Are there services not covered by OHIP?

The Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) covers most aspects of patient care; however, some medical and administrative services are not covered and will require separate payment.

All About Health also offers patients the option of an annual subscription program to reduce administrative overhead and provide a potential cost saving advantage to patients.  The annual fee covers most of the uninsured services, including online booking and prescription renewal.

Learn more about our Annual Block Fee.

Patients that are not a part of our (program) will be asked to pay for uninsured services each time they are provided.  A list of our fees for uninsured services is available here.

S2-Q1

What forms of payment are accepted?

At the moment All About Health only accepts cash in the clinic.  You may also pay select fees online.  If you pay your fees online we ask that you allow up to 3 days for payment to be reflected in our in clinic system.

S2-Q2

How do I book an appointment?

You may call our clinic during regular clinic hours directly to book an appointment at (905) 884-0666.  Enrolling in our Annual Block Fee Program will allow patients to book appointments online. Once you are registered in the program, you will be sent an email with an invitation and link enabling you to book an appointment online.  If you are already a part of the program you may book appointments online here

S2-Q3

How do I cancel/reschedule an appointment?

You may call our clinic at (905) 884-0666 during regular clinic hours should you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment.  If you are booking online and need to cancel or change your appointment you may access the online booking system here.

If you are unable to keep your appointment, please alert us as soon as possible.  If you miss your appointment and do not cancel over the phone or through our online system, additional fees may apply.

S2-Q4

Why can’t I schedule more than one appointment a day?

The government imposes restrictions so that, in most situations, physicians are not permitted to have and bill for multiple visits with a single patient on the same day.

Patients should schedule for the most important or pressing concern.  If there are additional concerns, you can let your physician know during your appointment and, should there be a need for it, schedule a follow-up appointment on another day.

S2-Q5

What if I am unable to get an appointment?

We try our best to get our rostered patients in to see their family doctor within 48 hours. Sometimes, due to scheduling, we are unable to do so. If that is the case, we will offer you alternatives such as an appointment with one of our other physicians, or options as to when you can come see us as a walk-in.

At the end of the day, we want patients who need to be seen by a doctor to be seen, regardless of where that is, but every effort will be made to take care of OUR patients at OUR clinic.

If you are experiencing an emergency health problem please go to your closest Emergency Room.

If you are experiencing one of the following issues, you may be able to be treated by your local Ontario pharmacist: allergies, skin rashes, insect bites, itchiness, urinary infection, pink eye, period cramps, muscles aches/pain, oral fungal infection, skin infection, tick bites/Lyme disease, heartburn/reflux, hemorrhoids, and cold sores.

S2-Q9

How can I get my prescription renewed without coming in to see my doctor?

You may call and request a phone consultation with your physician to discuss a prescription renewal if you are not able to come see your doctor for a face to face appointment.  You can also have your pharmacy fax a prescription renewal request to our clinic that your doctor can review and approve at their discretion.

Renewals done over phone or fax will require a few business days to process.  Please take this into account and request prescription renewals at least a week before your medication runs out.  If you need a renewal urgently please either book an in person appointment with your doctor or come as a walk-in.

Please be aware that there is a fee of $30 for prescription renewals through a pharmacy request, as this is a non-OHIP insured service.  This fee will be waived for patients enrolled in our Annual Block Fee program.

S2-Q6

Where can I fill my prescription?

If you’ve received a medication prescription from your doctor you can fill it at any pharmacy in Ontario.  All About Health is happy to be partnered with Shoppers Drug Mart Pharmacy at 1070 Major Mackenzie Dr. E, conveniently located next door to our clinic. Learn more about the pharmacy.

We encourage a strong relationship between you and your pharmacy. A pharmacist is a very important part of your circle of care. A connection to a pharmacist allows them to better identify potential adverse interactions between your medications, especially if you are filling prescriptions issued from several different physicians.

Will you bill my insurance?

No, All About Health does not do any direct billing to insurance companies for non-OHIP services.  You will be charged and provided with a receipt you can submit to your private insurance company.
